(1996) Scream. It makes Scre4m a bit of a reunion, a mix of old faces and new.

I love the beginning 5 minutes, which makes a mockery of itself with the Stab franchise. The cameo between Rachel (Anna Paquin) and Chloe (Kirsten Bell) is a must see, which brings me back to the opening of Scary Movie 3 (2003) with Pamela Anderson and Jenny McCarthy. To top it off, the movie really starts with Sherrie (Lucy Hale) and Trudie (Shenae Grimes).

We are back in Woodsboro where it all began. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) is back in town to promote her book, while Gale Weathers-Riley (Courteney Cox) is now married to the local sheriff Dewey Riley (David Arquette). Same high school, and new students and friends. Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts) is Sidney’s cousin, Olivia Morris (Marielle Jaffe), the neighbour, and Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere), the rich girl. They are BFFs,of course.

Killings soon happen again, and two high school students were killed on the anniversary date of the original killings, and more are coming. In essence, whoever has more than 10 lines in this movie is a potential victim, and there is no discrimination here. The more the merrier, cause we are in the age of internet, streaming, and instant gratification. While the body counts are piling up, Dewy the sheriff can only run around and chase the tail(s) of our killer(s)?!

So it is a whodunit, but more so to find out the why. Of course, Jill’s ex, Trevor Sheldon (Nico Tortorella) is prime suspect, cause he keeps pop up in most of the scenes and out of nowhere. But then, we also have a childhood classmate that knows Sidney well that is always in the shadow. What about the sheriff’s deputy? Deputy Judy Hicks (Marley Shelton) seems to have a crush on Dewy! What about Gale? could she? afterall she wrote a book about it! Oh! there are these two guys, who document live and post to the internet: Robbie Mercer (Erik Knudsen) and the Film Geek (Justin Michael Brandt), could they be? like in the original, the two buddies.

Lots of laugh more than terrors. I love it also when no one is spare, even family is on the list, if she gets in the way.

All and all, it is quite entertaining and fun to watch. Guess who wins? the younger or the older?

RENT.
